Brother Woods is a native of Long Beach, California – where he was a product of a close-knit community with strong Christian beliefs and a loving family that consistently stressed the value of education and genuine respect for others. Bother Woods graduated with honors from Long Beach Poly High School in 1981– where he leveraged his athletic skills to earn several Division-1 college scholarships to play football.
In May 1985, Brother Woods graduated from the University of the Pacific (UOP) – located in Stockton, California – with a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science. It was during these four years at Pacific that he excelled in the classroom, on the football field, and in fraternal bonding. Brother Woods, along with three other Spring 1983 initiates, were the first to bring the Iota Sigma chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity to the yard at Pacific. In years following, Brother Woods held various officer roles in the undergraduate chapter including, Dean of Pledges (i.e. MTA Chair), Keeper of Exchequer, and Strategist.
Brother Woods has been in the technology industry for over 30 years where he is currently working with customers to maximize their Software as a Service (SaaS) deployments while quantifying business benefits with their software investments. In this capacity, Brother Woods is on the front end of new emerging markets, technological advancements, and cloud computing. He is responsible for multi-million dollar annual support revenue for large financial institutions. Bro. Woods credits his college course in logic as the springboard to his passion for computers and software development. Determining “IF” this, “THEN” that captivated his curiosity for programming outcomes.
Brother Woods earned an MBA from the University of Southern California in 1997 and continues to be an active life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity for over thirty-five years. On the alumni chapter level, Brother Woods has held all leadership roles including Polemarch of Vallejo-Fairfield (California) from 2005 to 2007. Since transferring to the Stamford Alumni Chapter, Brother Woods has worked tirelessly to elevate the chapter within the community and train for leadership.
Brother Woods met his sweetheart/wife (Jacqui) while both were attending a college party and have thrived with their union since that day. They have two adult children: Tyler (Lambda Nu – Spring ’12) – who graduated from Stanford University and is now pursuing an MBA at Wharton; Kennedy – who is a senior at Spelman College.
Brother Woods lives by biblical and afrocentric teachings of “To Whom Much is Given, Much will be Required” and “It takes a village to raise a child”. He believes that there’s shared interest for all of us to succeed and achieve.
